Everything Happens for a Reason
Let’s be honest: 2012 hasn’t really gotten off to a great start for me. If anything, I’ve been told my stories make my friends feel better about how their years have started. There have been times when I’ve really questioned myself and, especially in the last week, times when my faith in myself has seriously wavered. I’m not sure that I’ve ever fully understood...

clientsfromhell: Client: Can you scan this printout for me and make it a PDF so I can email it to someone? Me: Sure, but since I’m scanning a printout, it’s not going to look that great. Client: I have the original file that was emailed to me if you think that will work better. Me: Is it a PDF? Client: Yeah. Silence. Client: Oh.

Culinarily Challenged: Pumpkin Pie Cupcakes →
Before I became mildly obsessed with The Food Network, I was convinced that I knew how to bake. Now, I wasn’t lying. I did know how to bake. From a box. The 2 eggs, oil, water, and the powdery mix in kind of box. True, they weren’t bad at all. In fact, sometimes they were absolutely delicious. If you couldn’t tell, we weren’t really a homemade baking kind of family. Homemade cooking? Absolutely....

'In Time' Premiere: 'Mad Men's' Vincent Kartheiser... →
It’s really weird to see him talking as himself, and not as Pete Campbell.  This still made me smile, though. I can’t wait to see the movie!

"Lost" Phone
clientsfromhell: Client: “I took a photo with the colours I want for my home page, I’ll send it to you, but I can’t seem to find my damn phone.” Me: “Wait, so what are you calling me from?” Client: “…” Me: “…” Client: “You can’t let ANYONE know about this!” Sadly, I am not a client. But I do this all the time.

Culinarily Challenged: American Chop Suey - a... →
When I opened up the Better Homes & Gardens cookbook lying around at my boyfriend’s apartment, I had one thing in mind: ground beef. I had just seen a commercial for Manwich (A sandwich is a sandwich, a Manwich is a meal) on TV and found myself craving ground beef, something I had not consumed in awhile…

Group Buying: Next Stop, Travel?
The beginning of the month, Groupon announced that they would be partnering with discount travel giant Expedia to make Groupon Travel. Soon, LivingSocial and other group buying sites rolled out their travel platforms as well. Then, I got an e-mail from SniqueAway inviting me to be a part of their discount luxury travel program. Just like Gilt Groupe brought discount luxury retail to the forefront...

FDA Requires Grotesque Imagery on Cigarette Boxes...
I saw this article on AdAge today. The imagery in the article itself is nothing short of terrifying. I had to close my eyes almost every time I scrolled to the top. Perhaps it’s because I get a little queasy at grotesque things, and I definitely fall under the “weak stomach” category. I know that this would make me reconsider buying cigarettes if I had to stare at an image like...

Just Thinking.
jhnmyr: Most people think of unconditional love to mean “I couldn’t love you any less, no matter what.” But what I think unconditional love means is “I couldn’t love you any more, no matter what.” Either way, it sounds neat. I agree.

If 'The Decision' Was an Advertising Paradigm, the...
I was going to just let the whole LeBron/ESPN/overblown publicity tirade go under my radar and not contribute to the millions of opinions already circulating the blog-o-sphere. But then I logged onto AdAge.com this morning and read this article, featuring an interview with Ari Emmanuel, co-CEO of the William Morris Endeavor agency. Mr. Emmanuel, as great as he may be at his job, seems to think...
